Church 'For' The Birds

Another Sunday rolls around and I'm home bound .. alone with Nathan.  He does not 'do' church well (period).  Today's Bible lesson was one that was observed from the comfort of my backyard perch wicker chair.  A pair of binoculars and a Western Bird field guide ... along with scripture were my instruments for learning.  God often speaks to me when I'm in the back woods observing His creation.  Today at the feeder I spied a red headed 'purple' finch.  The description in the field guide informs that this (male) bird appears to have been dipped in raspberry juice :)  I wonder why he's called 'purple'?  Anyway ... being in the presence of God's creation is very fulfilling.  The scripture says... Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky ... (Gen. 1:20).  Some days I envision all of man's devices for following God null and void.  When you strip all but the very basic form of worship .. you have communion with Him that has set the stars in place.  Just think how blessed we are to have written scripture and the ability to read.  Even so, without these abilities, we should still know that God is the creator of the universe.  He has left enough finger and foot prints for us to follow.  Have a blessed day.

"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."    Romans 1:18-20 (NIV)

Having been thru recent drama with our church, i can't agree more!

I'm not ready to abandon it all, i do feel that God is honored in "the praises of his people" & that fellowship & connection to others is important.

But church so very, very often falls so short of what i think God would have for us & what is pleasing to him.

Have a lovely day. :)

There is a definate connection to God when out in nature. I think a lot of people feel a different type of experience3 with the Lord in those moments.
I remember when Hal and my cousins would go hunting..they would share communion in the woods. Hal said it was such a special time to him.
Oh to be in His presence...where ever we are!

Dear Mrs. Mac,
My friend Turid says, "God is speaking to us, in every we we are willing/able to receive his messages."
That is so true.
When our hearts are open, he will find a way to bless us.
And that calls for a summerish hallelujah.

I know just exactly how you
feel. We stay home all of the
time because Shaun has a very
hard time being out and about.
We are blessed to have our
pastor come to our home with
his wife though. Today we
received communion, prayed,
worshiped, and had a time of
peace and refreshment.
God looks at your heart. He
sees your love and devotion
to Him and to your son. You
honor Him with this life of
seclusion in caring for Nathan.
I always feel closest to God
when I am outside basking in
His creation.
I will be thinking of you and
praying for you and your family.
The Lord bless you,
Sandy

God has made it so obvious that He is THERE - hasn't He? i see Him everywhere on my walks ...

leo and i continue to "do" church at home ... for sundays, we watch charles price, from people's church in toronto ... but you are right, if all was stripped away except God's Word and God's World - it would be enough - more than enough ...

blessings on you!!!

How true it is that we are blessed beyond measure to have His Word and the to possess the ability to read it. However, some of my most profound moments with the Lord have been when I was communing with Him in His creation. Often the praises proclaimed by the inanimate objects are so much more poignant than the words uttered by human lips. Beautiful post!

Many hugs..........

I am SOO far behind on my blog reading!!

I agree about Genealogy-record it and you will never regret it! I could have saved myself a lot of aggravation if I had written mor stuff down. I've benn aggravating my Mom to write her memoirs-she lived such an amazing life during WW2-but he doesn't think it was all that extraordinary!! Is she freaking kidding me?

I can relate to your bird post and worshipping God as Creator. I had one of thos "ah-ha" moments in 2005 hiking on Highline Trail in Glacier National Park...

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Rev. 4:11

Those same breath-taking views, mountain glacial lakes, panoramic vistas God created and they bring HIM pleasure! As I delight in God's creation, in that most minute of ways, I share in the very heart of God!

"If that don't light your fire than your wood must be wet!"

Be still and know that I am God...isn't it wonderful that no matter where we are we can enter into the Lord's presence? The splendor of His creation...brings such peace. I love to sit, eyes closed and listen...Magic.
Hugs...
