There's No Hiding

.... from God. In years past, I have been a magnet for depressed souls. Being a Polyanna optimist has its flaw in that the severely depressed seem to be attracted to me in an overwhelming number. My initial response is to help fix problems. Most people don't just look me up in the phone book under Miss Sunshine, but are lead to me by divine intervention (I presume ;). Some have been inherited through hubby's guy friends in the form of wives. Others from my past home schooling networks. However they find me, turning them away from a listening ear, a cup of tea, or an outing out has not been in my nature. Add to that the pressure of being the mom of child with his own special needs, it's not hard to understand how after moving to a new state, with a new start, has made me steer clear of forming attachments. Just last night I commented on a friend's blog about how I am 'hiding from God (in jest) considering myself not available to this 'outreach' He has bestowed upon me. No more than ten minutes had gone by from hitting the 'send' button for my comment when the phone rang. I picked it up to hear a familiar voice, from another state, just wanting to make sure she hadn't lost touch with me. This after 18 months of no contact. She being one of the ex-wives of hubby's childhood friend. I took this to be a sign from God that there is no hiding from Him. Just too coincidental. Am I alone in doing this 'hiding'?

After Dark

Tonight night we (four couples) traveled to Spokane's Bing Crosby Theater (aka the Met) to see this guy. Before the concert we were supposed to eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory ... but who knew it was parent's week at Gonzaga University and the town was busy ... at five PM, the wait time was an hour ... so we went here instead. Had a wonderful evening returning to our youth ... at least in our minds. What a trip ... no drugs were involved. Really!

Fast Forward Fifteen Years

The past four weeks have zipped by with barely a chance to catch my breath. First hubby was home for three weeks, then a long lost girl friend flew in from Texas for a week to catch up on fifteen years worth of our lives. Last time we visited, our now grown children were toddling around in diapers. Time has a way of standing still in one's mind ... but oh its effect on the body is something left only for the imagination. She, of course, looks fabulous at 50. I, of course, must have put on twenty-five pounds and, well, after four children, look a bit different. Today was supposed to be a 'day off' ... but my youngest had a rough night and little sleep ... so did I. So it wasn't really a day off after all.

This year for Thankgiving I'm taking the day off ;) ... to be exact ... we're eating out. With Elizabeth having to work that day, I would have been doing all the cooking (and a lot of the clean up) ... so we're heading to the Coeur D' Alene Resort for their sumptuous feast. Ann put up a stink about our home not smelling like her grandma's kitchen ... but she was out numbered. ... maybe I can find a pumpkin spice candle to burn, eh?

the other is gold."

A Pet For Sara

My friend Sara (in Michigan) recently said goodbye to her elderly dog and is on the hunt for a new pooch, cat, lamb, or something to love that her husband will "adopt" into the family. I have a doe that frequents my yard almost daily. She's well trained (so far) and only eats the weeds. The newly planted "deer resistant" plants seem not to be bothered by her. Today I found her taking a nap (resting) in the shady part of the front lawn. She doesn't seem too old, is not afraid of Miss Holly, and has beautiful brown eyes. Sara, she's up for adoption, please send her a ticket and some food if the Mr. says yes ;) Be sure to go to Sara's and vote on a name for her new pet.

Reminder Note For Gramma_s

My dear friend, Gramma_s is in need of some gentle reminders to speak louder according to her speech therapist. Here's just another reminder to her when she comes for a visit. Keep up the practice Gramma_s! Hugs

More This & That & Prayer

Tuesday This and That consisted of planting bushes, shrubs, perennials, and an ornamental maple tree. Having a lovely lunch with my sweethearts (Nathan, Elizabeth, Ann ... and precious grandson, Jacob). A trip to the library, the bank, and to the upholstery shop to pick up my vintage chairs that I had redone. Mowing the wild grass. Son-in-law, Ryan, washed my truck ... I rocked in my new rocker on the front porch while sipping fresh brewed coffee and gazing at Jacob.

My blog friend, Arlene, is having another round of chemo today ... please march on up to the thrown room of heaven in prayer on her behalf.
