Whatever Happened To ...

.....my new over the cooking range (now defunct) microwave/exhaust oven?  It bit the dust after just 2-1/2 years of use.  It seems it just couldn't take the heat from all of the summer canning I do.  And the last time I fried chicken (a once a year ordeal around here) the electrical panel got 'fried'!  Sad at the time, but oh so much happier with my new exhaust fan and the tile back splash repaired .. there is no comparison to the exhaust performance!

And the microwave .. well, I brought in from our front porch a little vintage table Mr. Mac's grandpa made ... put it in our eating area in the kitchen with a small (seldom used) microwave I had stored in the basement.

I'm glad this works better for you. Canning and lots of cooking is also why I insist on having a gas range too because the electric coils can't take it.

Same thing happened to my daughters micro that was mounted over the stove. Mine is on a shelf over the stove, but it's not a built in.
I like the way your's looks on that clean white table. We don't use ours for any thing but re-warming, so I don't need a big fancy model. sometimes simpler is better.

I'm glad we are so long behind when it comes to electrical (or gas) equipped.
Then we avoid have all these melt downs.
My black cooker is the third I've had in my whole life, and I expect it to last for a long time.
Our exhaust fan should have been replaced years ago.
That is such a comprehensive affair, including 2 bathrooms and 2 kitchens, that the operation is postponed all the time.
I usually open the kitchen window when cheese is dripping from the pizzas, to avoid the fire alarm to turn on.
At least my family then will know that dinner is served!!!

What a pretty tile backsplash. I like the arrangement you have now with your microwave. (I know, they don't make things like they used to for quality do they? Our Pastor years ago when I was i n my 30's...still had one of those old timey fridges in the basement of the church...you know, the kind with that round thing on top...it lasted how many years!!) Ours is right above the stove..in my face. Better than taking up counter space according to my hubby. ~~The episode of the Waltons I referred to was the one where the circus folks get left behind. At first Livvy is very upset that the children would be around the 'worldly' influences. But as they get to know & help the circus people...we see them, the circus folks freely smoking for example in front of the children. The world always trys to minimize sin and the Word shows it for what it is. Little foxes spoil the vines...I watched 'the Calf' episode tonight... it was very good. I'm glad to have the these.

I love the tile back splash and that stainless exhaust hood! I have one of the over-the-range microwaves as well. I don't like it as well because (1) I am a short person and reaching UP into it to retrieve hot items is NOT safe; and (2) the exhaust on these units is NEVER as good as the exhausts on the hoods.

BTW, HI!!! I hope you didn't pass out when you saw me commenting again!

Many hugs..........

my microwave sits on top of my refrigerator...and i have to get on a stool to use it...(which is about never)or I would probably dump everything on top of my head...

I asked Ron to remove the exhaust fan when we moved into the house ten years ago...we had an enlightening discussion at the time about how they don't really do anything....and he let me have my way since he doesn't cook..(I rule in my kitchen)..I just open my window...

M&M, you have a lovely microwave sitting on that pretty little table. You had to get a new range hood too, then? And rework your backsplash. That looks really nice.
What I can see of your kitchen looks like a gormet's delight.
..
BTW, I have a scale on our cabinet too. It goes to one pound in half ounce increments or to 500 grams by 10 gram increments
