"These happy golden years are passing by, these happy golden years." Laura Ingalls Wilder

"For crying out loud ... just get a grip Mrs. Mac. " That's my new mantra repeated under my breath about a dozen or so times a day. This perimenopausal stage of life is the pits. It's comparable to PMS x's ten. My top three complaints are:
  1. hot flashes
  2. being grumpy
  3. fatigue until 2 PM
Just when I start feeling energized for the day, it's time to start winding down for the evening routines. Someone take pity on my husband and send him a sympathy card .. OK! If you'd care to share your best remedies, just leave a comment.

Sorry, I have no cures or suggestions. My biggest complaint was insomnia. Normally I sleep very well, but for several years while my body was adjusting to the change, I was tired- but when I went to bed sleep did not come. I now sleep well, but old age is what I received in place of insomnia. You can't win.
Did I cheer you up yet?

I am not sure if I have gone through all of that yet or not? You're probably thinking,
"Believe me, if you had, you would know!"

The drug that my Oncologist has me on, one of the side effects is no period. I haven't had one in over year! (Yeah, I'm SO sad over that!) I have however, had the hot flashes and the fatigue. Once again though, one of the symptoms of my disorder is fatigue! I don't know, I don't have a clue what's going on with me! I'll just offer some all too obvious words of encouragement:
"this too shall pass!"

Thats a rough thing to go through...just hang in there...and baby yourself whenever you can...it WILL let up in time. Of course my hairdresser told me once she was visiting her grandmother (who was 92)..and while grandmother was laying in bed, asked someone to hand her a piece of cardboard..she was having a 'flash'...can you believe that!! Ooooh, that surely won't be us one day...smile. But then, maybe its only 1 hot flash a month or year...grin. We can handle that!
