Ode To Summer

AAAAHHH (big sigh) As the summer of '07 winds down, let me take a deep breath and drink in the last of the warm days without the hustle of the previous months' weight upon my shoulders (another big sigh ... aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh) I'M A SURVIVOR! (barely)

With the kids heading back to school next week ... and the prospect of routine, routine, boring, lovely, much needed routine, I'm loving the thought. This new season (fall) that is soon to be here is my all time favorite time of the year. Preparing for winter, gathering pantry items, making a nice nest for the family, and tooling around town without worry of everyone's schedules is my driving force to sanity. There is so much to look forward to: warm fires, hot cocoa, leisurely visits with hubby and soldier boy. A good book, baking cookies, scents of pot roast and cold weather food wafting through the house.

Farewell summer
hello fall, my dear old friend!

"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!"
Proverbs 6:6 (NIV)

Just for laughs - a recent google search for "something's eating my roses" landed this link to my blog:

Just reading your post today makes me exhale and relax - even if only momentarily! I thrive on the routine and lately life hasn't been very routine. I too look forward to the fall, and even (surprise!) a little bit of winter!
Time to dust off that soup pot!!!

Kids heading back to school? Sounds lovely but it wont be happening here. Im heading into a busy time so I guess I'll just come here and visit you when it gets too rushed!

I too am a Fall person! The thought of sweater weather, pumpkins, crisp apples, fires in the fireplace, soup on the stove, the aroma of brown fallen leaves...oh wait! I'm in Texas! I guess the brown leaves are from lack of water and excess heat! Still, I can dream. Fall temps usually hit around December and January!

Well, M&M, that Google search was really good. Should I check it out myself to see if you changed a FEW words here and there?
I change my fortune cookie blurbs when I read them at the table. But NOT my Google reports.

I'm glad to see you back and blogging, writing AND reading and commenting!

You should enjoy your freedom, this will be your last year of it.
When DH retires he will upset your whole routine. He will drink coffe and read the paper in the morning. You will want to get up early and do things, but you'll end up drinking coffee and reading the paper unless you are careful.

He will sleep later, but you can't during the school year. He will want to do things and go places with with you, you were planning on "a good book, baking cookies, scents of pot roast and cold weather food wafting through the house."

Remember when Terry was injured and couldn't do morning things with her hubby he started going to MacDonalds with his cronies for breakfast and coffee.
Your best bet will be to get him a blog to tend.
