Mother Of The Bride ... Dress Shopping

Being a person that is not "fussy" about what I wear ... you know, all put together each day with accessories and what have you ... I'm a blue jeans, comfy type of person, ... shopping for a "mother of the bride" outfit was bothering me quite a bit. I surely didn't want to fork over the money for a fancy smancy outfit from a formal shop ... you know those long sequined/beaded thingies that would only be worn once ... then relegated to the wardrobe closet in a zip up bag (I have nothing against these types of outfits nor mothers that buy them). Not me, I'm too sensible and want a multi-purpose outfit that can be worn again and again. So off to Macy's I went ... alone! I told my daughters I'd be back in 2-1/2 hours. How about four hours later I returned ... (and not with the dinner I said I'd pick up at the store on the way home). Not only did I find a nice outfit to wear ... but came home with an updated wardrobe to boot. Presently, I have been wearing the same four pairs of long pants since the weather turned cold. Two blue jeans that were waiting for the flood waters (one recently had the knee rip ... which is now in style), and two pairs of black slacks ... one for church and one a pair of sweats. I'd try to mix things up a bit with my tops, but with only two colors of slacks, there were limitations. Being that I only shop twice a year, I decided to load up on my winter wardrobe with three new slacks and ooodles of mix and match tops and vests. This should tide me over until spring I hope. Now I'm off tomorrow to find some sensible dressy shoes that don't have too pointy of toes ... and not too high of a heel ... and not too young looking either ... this may be a tougher task than finding just the right outfit.

So did you find your dress?

No, Tonya ... not a dress ... but an outfit. Swishy black stretchy velvet skirt just below knee (classy length) and a beautiful dressy cranberry with gold threads runing through it longer clingy top, long sleeves, stretchy, and semi sheer where appropriate. Jewelry in gold and amber. Now I'm off to find stockings and shoes. (I'll post a picture later)

too funny! Wish I could do all my shopping twice a year in a 4 hr span! It takes me that long to try every thing on!!
But I do have a time with shoes! Too high, too low, arch not high enough..arch too high, pointy toes, wide heel...it goes on and on and i still have waaay too many...they just all hurt my feet! :) good luck!
( I do like to shop alone! good think huh?)

First I have to tell you I love the picture with todays post..wouldn't mind a print of that one for my home. Enough about me...
Sounds like a very successful shopping trip and now the dreaded shoe shopping..been there, done that! Shopping doesn't call to me like it used to, but I do realize that sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get out there and do it!
Your outfit sounds perfect..post some pictures when ready, including the shoes!
