I Broke Down

... and took Nathan to see a nurse practitioner this morning.  His sniffles turned into a sinus infection and he just couldn't shake it after nearly two weeks of home therapy.  She checked his chart and found that the last time he had one was January, 2009.  For him, that's progress.  So the much dreaded antibiotics were prescribed .. along with a prescription nasal spray.  How did people survive (or suffer) sinus infections prior to antibiotics???  I'd really like to know.  The thought of using a netti-pot on him is about as looked forward to as clipping his toenails ;)  so I'll be skipping the former and tending to the latter:)

our world was much different...and not filled with all the pollutants, irritants, chemicals, processed foods...all of which, I believe contribute to a weakened immune system which then leads to all sorts of issues....

hats off to you for trying the home remedies first....

once he's off the antibiotic, give his immune system a boost, since the antibiotics kill the good and the bad...and he needs the good replenished...

Hope he's better soon...

Nathan's at a disadvantage to start with with smaller than usual nasal passages due to having DS .. he actually has a good immune system. Thanking God his ears have never been prone to ear infections.

This, too, shall pass. In the meantime, just keep smelling those geraniums...

Hope he recovers quickly. Sinus infections are the worst, aren't they?

I'm happy for antibiotics. It for sure shortens the time of cruel pain.
I remember my mother standing in the kitchen with a towel over her head and a large opt of simmering salt water on the stove. It took week of burning headache before she was healed. sometimes she even went to the doctor and had her sinuses opened with a needle. "Prick them up" was the term.
Horrible.
And yes, I have shown Gunnar the alternative drugs. Maybe we'll order via internet, they cannot be bought in Norway. No problem as long as we know what we need.
An extra hug to Nathan
