Oh No ... Mr. Crow

The phrase, "Oh No, Mr. Crow" has a certain ring in our home. It's used to motivate Nathan to finish a task. At times he can dawdle. Sometimes it's just plain old delayed obedience. Other times I wonder if he understands what is being asked of him. All I know is that when we bring out his puppet called Mr. Crow, he gets a move on. Mr. Crow's beak makes a 'caw-caw' crowing noise when squeezed; rather realistic. Years ago, fear would wash across Nathan's face when he saw or heard Mr. Crow. Hubby would tease the poor boy quite often by just mentioning the name Mr. Crow. The puppet was given to Nathan by a former school aide as a going away gift. When he opened the present at home, he was filled with fear. I had a hard time sending the thank you note without fibbing about how much Nathan enjoyed the gift ... he wanted nothing to do with it. Now days, the fear has been replaced with love-hate. You should see Nathan at the county fair ... he wants nothing to do with the poultry exhibit ... something about the sound of a large bird just brings on panic.

"Sing to God a thanksgiving hymn,
play music on your instruments to God,
Who fills the sky with clouds,
preparing rain for the earth,
Then turning the mountains green with grass,
feeding both cattle and crows.
He's not impressed with horsepower;
the size of our muscles means little to him.
Those who fear God get God's attention;
they can depend on his strength."
Psalm 147:7-11 The Message Bible

When we lived on the ridge in Oregon we had crows, crows, crows, so many in fact the my first son would nake a noise like them from his baby buggy. I think "Caawww" was the first word he learned to say. If you can call it a word.
gramma_s, if you can't guess.

When he no longer uses Mr Crow, you can put him in a garden!

Playing catch up since I just got back from our long (yawn) trip. When do you leave for Glacier NP? We head out Sept 5th for Yellowstone & Glacier, can't wait since Fall is my favorite time of year and the best time to visit Yellowstone!

Love that grin on Nathan and the twinkle in his eyes! We were around our 2 year old grand-daughter on this vacation and by weel's end, I was understanding so much more of what she said.

The language of the heart needs no translation!

Thinking of you today,
Connie

Looks like a very friendly crow to me. One that sings too.

Hey MM, I'm with Constance except maybe you should be thinking scarecrow right now. Pooooor Nathan, I don't think hardly anyone would like that scary guy looking down on him!
I like your Scripture. :-)

Contrary to what Sara said, the bird clipping in my hair looked nothing like this...that would just be silly.

When I was a little thing..I was terrified of a mechanical tractor of some sort. That thank you note would be tricky! A Mother's heart is a special thing. Understanding is a gift worth more than gold. I did not have a very understanding Mom but Nathan has! I'm glad for him.
