Motherhood Really Stinks

Just gag me with a spoon already! Sometimes mothers have the yuckiest jobs on earth. We change the baby's diapers, wipe up their spit-up and vomit. Wash the dirty laundry, investigate strange odors from under kids' beds and inside closets. Today I have had it up to my eyeballs with the nasties of life relating to all things children and dogs. My youngest son held his legs crossed so tight so as not to have to use the potty at camp ... only to come home crawl under his bed covers (freshly changed) and mess his britches ... he was too embarrassed to have me help him to the bathroom upon his return from said camp because we had a strange workman in the house ... he held it for so long that he complained his ears hurt. The dog on the other hand decided to retch her guts out on the garage floor (we're talking major puddle here) ... then I discovered why her dog kennel down in the basement didn't smell quite kosher ... she had done the same deed during the night ... at least it was contained and didn't end up on my new carpet ... if I've told that dog once, I've told her twice ... "stop eating deer poop"!! Her new gained freedom (wireless fenced yard) is coming at a cost to her digestive system. Now I have piles of laundry sitting in the basement laundry room, a freshly hosed out garage, and a kennel that still needs to be cleaned out. It's no wonder I've lost my appetite for dinner tonight what with dunking dirty soiled clothes in the toilet and all ... maybe later I'll pull out a box of cereal and call it quits for the day ... now excuse me while I go wash my hands.

"All the tables are covered with vomit and there is not a spot without filth." Isaiah 28:8
"As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly." Proverbs 6:11

Your honesty is one of the many things that make you great. You feel no need to present life as lollipops and roses- because it isn't always that way. Once in a while a "stinky" day is thrown our way! Your honesty helps us to keep it real, right along with you.
Some days you just have to laugh to keep from crying - this sounds like one of them.
I think I'm doing both right now!

...and one more thing...I love the illustration you've posted regarding being a mother instead of a housewife. That needs to be stitched on a pillow and flung in the face of every visitor who walks through my front door!
